Phil's Grandson Place website is an average website that could use some improvements to utilize the web in a better way. The design of the website leaves many open and unused spaces, especially on the homepage. The layout is poorly conveyed to show their special events on each night. There were a few fonts being used with varying sizes and no purpose. The content of the website leaves the visitors wanting more, there is not a lot of usable/crucial information that some viewers may be looking for and a lot of the information is disorganized and more difficult to find.
Below you can find a side by side comparison of the old and new design that I have created. Some key changes include layout, use of space and organized information to find everything you need about the company and what they have to offer.
I started the project by mapping out the current information of the website and worked with the team to make small changes of the layout to make the navigation more intuitive and user-friendly. While we were generally satisfied with the general map of the current website, it was more so the information that was presented on each of the pages that misaligned with the pages purpose and relative key points.
After analysis of the current website state, we maintained the website's simple layout and added/renamed areas to give the website more sense of communicative relevance. This adds value to the website pages and while maintaining organization, building more useful information for the user and making it is easy to navigate around the webpage.
After determining the updated content structure for the website, I started wireframing how the content could be organized into sections. The goal of this exercise was to highlight content that aligned with the business objectives of clearly communicating the company's identity and services. Once the layout was finalized, I moved on to creating high-fidelity designs to emphasize the visual aspects. The final designs are available in the redesign section.
Here are the final designs for the webpages, after applying the visual image.
